2017: What A Year It's Been
Easter Sunday 2017, Kevin and Leah, and their two little girls walked in the doors of Grace Community Church. There God encountered them. They came with questions, fears and hopes. They weren’t alone. Their story is one of many stories of changed lives. Take a few minutes and see a few snapshots of God’s work in and through Grace Community Church in 2017.
ANNUAL REPORT 2017
Easter Sunday 2017, Kevin and Leah, and their two little girls walked in the doors of Grace Community Church. There God encountered them. They came with questions, fears and hopes. They weren’t alone. Their story is one of many stories of changed lives. Take a few minutes and see a few snapshots of God’s work in and through Grace Community Church in 2017
In 2017, an average of 818 worshipers attended Grace each weekend. Kids Worship averaged 80 and Youth Worship averaged 70 in attendance. Attendance at our Christmas Eve and Easter Worship services were remarkable as well with 1300 attending.
Reaching The World
Grace began broadcasting on Facebook Live on April 18, 2017. Our initial broadcast garnered 1,500 views on our first broadcast. This number has grown steadily throughout the year, peaking with 5,100 views for our Christmas Eve. Our Facebook Live broadcasts had nearly 73,000 total views in 2017.
Local Mercy Ministries
We love the people of McDowell County! Grace’s Food Pantry and Benevolence provided groceries, fresh produce, and/or financial assistance to more than 4,400 people in 2017. As well, a Wellness Ministry was started in early 2017 and has seen tremendous growth with weekly opportunities to encourage and support physical, emotional, and spiritual health.
Grace shares God’s love through evangelism as well as helping those in need. In 2017, Grace assisted in disaster-relief by serving with Baptists on Mission in Lumberton, NC, SBTC Disaster Relief in Vidor, Texas, and Samaritan's Purse in Baton Rouge, LA. These cleanups and home-rebuilds were as much of a blessing to our teams and to the people they serve.
Grace also served internationally in Senegal and Ecuador. The teams from Grace provided medical, financial, and building assistance as well as spiritual support for local pastors and churches.
A Night To Shine
At Grace we held our first ever Night To Shine event. This Christ-centered, prom for people with special needs served 138 guests with over 200 parents/caregivers.
Train Up A Child
Our commitment to discipleship begins at an early age. Through several ministries focusing on children from Kindergarten to 5th grade, the gospel is being proclaimed to our little ones.
Fourteen students from Old Fort Elementary School are invited to an after school tutoring ministry that engages their academic needs as well as character development. In 2017, we had two decisions to follow Christ and one child attended CentriKid. At the end of the year, the kids also took a day trip to Launch Trampoline Park.
The theme of our version of VBS was Maker Fun Factory! Our largest night for kids was 257 with over 160 volunteers!
Our Sunday night ministry teaches K-3rd grade the importance of missions around the world. 4th-5th grades are immersed in a small group that prepares them for the leap to youth.
2017 was a phenomenal year in youth ministry at Grace. Each week 70+ students gathered to worship together. In addition, eight new life groups were started bringing the total number of youth life groups to 18.
Caswell, Grace’s summer camp was also life changing. 103 total people attended Caswell and God worked in students’ lives in a tremendous way.
Caswell was an amazing trip, my life was changed and my eyes were opened. I started a strong relationship with God and other people; it’s one of my favorite places on earth.
Caswell pulled me closer to God than I have ever been.
Caswell was an experience that changed my life forever, a little piece of what heaven is like.
Staying The Course
Every Wednesday evening about sixteen college students and those who have previously graduated come together at a house to join in a Life Group. We have seen remarkable growth numerically and spiritually.

Stories Of Changed Lives
Kevin and Leah Gauthier are now sharing the gospel daily. They use their gym as a platform for the Gospel. Their “row” in church is filled with friends and family they invite to join them. Hear their story in their own words along with others from 2017.
We would love to hear from you.
